Trough Road
Trough Road Scenic Drive
Trough Road is a 24.4-mile winding, partially paved and hard-packed-dirt mountain drive that has amazing views and breathtaking hairpin turns. Trough Road links Highway 131 to State Highway 9, running between Kremmling, Colorado and the Colorado River Gorge and showcasing some of Grand County's spectacular and unique landscapes. The route is ideal for a breathtaking scenic mountain drive or access to some amazing off-roading.
ATV & OHV Access
Find miles of off-roading terrain that dips and rises from 7,000 feet to 8,329 feet in elevation. Experience some incredible views of the Blue River and the Colorado River, and keep your eyes open for wildlife including moose, elk, and mountain lions (there's plenty of big game hunting nearby!).
The best time for off-roading near Trough Road? Visit the area anytime from July through October for incredible Grand County vistas and exciting off-roading fun. Always check the condition of the road before venturing out to the area.
Scenic Drive in Colorado
Trough Road is one of the best scenic drives in Colorado. Starting at Kremmling, drive west for classic Trough Road views of the Blue River, the Colorado River and beautiful mountain peaks and valleys. About halfway through the drive from Kremmling, the road will dip toward the Colorado River.
Following a hairpin turn, pull off to stop at Inspiration Point for some of the best views of the Colorado River and Gore Canyon. Keep your eyes open for rafters and kayakers on the river, and don't forget to bring your camera!
The road will mellow out and level off into rolling hills as you reach the end of the scenic drive.
