Outdoor Activities

With hiking, biking, horseback riding, camping and boating at your disposal, there's no shortage of things to do in Kremmling. The Colorado River and the Blue River offer Gold Medal waters to dip your line in. And Gore Canyon Whitewater Park’s rapids offer challenging routes for guided river rafting or kayaking trips with outfitters like Mad Adventures. Not to mention Kremmling has miles of ATV and OHV trails that also make it the "Motorsport Capital of Grand County."

In winter, Kremmling boasts exceptional ice fishing on Williams Fork and Wolford Mountain reservoirs, plus some of the best elk hunting in Colorado. Day trippers and overnight guests alike can also explore the vast network of cross-country ski, snowshoe and fat-bike trails at Latigo Ranch. The region also contains great, ungroomed snowmobile trails, including the thrill-filled twists and turns on Rabbit Ears Pass. If you’re looking for a scenic drive, The Colorado River Headwaters Scenic Byway cuts through Kremmling and continues over Trough Road to State Bridge. Along the way, stop at Inspiration Point to see the spectacular views of Gore Canyon.

Kremmling’s scenery is not only stunning, but also of geological importance. Hike along Fossil Ridge, just a few miles from town, to see fossils of ancient ammonites among the rocks. Or discover the old Kremmling town jail, a railroad depot and homesteads dating back to the late 19th century at the Heritage Park Museum. During your trek, remember to roam responsibly and leave the rocks, plants and historical objects where you found them.

Events

Kremmling hosts exciting events throughout the year. In summer, the Kremmling Farmers Market takes place every Thursday. Pick up home-grown fruits and veggies as well as eggs and meat from Grand County farms and ranches. And shop artisan crafts from local vendors in the charming town square. Those same evenings, the community gathers and watches family-friendly films at weekly movie nights.

For the Fourth of July, head over to Kremmling for Fire Up the Cliffs, a spectacular fireworks display that glows above the craggy cliffs of Kremmling. Residents and visitors lay down blankets on the lawn and gaze up at the colorful pyrotechnics from the park below.

But perhaps the most iconic summer event that takes place in Kremmling is the Middle Park Fair and Rodeo, a multi-week Wild West experience that includes horse shows, barrel races, county shoots and exhibit halls. With so much history and heritage on display, it’s a true testament to what makes this mountain town so special.
