GRAND COUNTY, Colo. – Grand County kicks off 2025 with an array of ice fishing competitions boasting snowy scenery and the chance to reel in the “big one” for even bigger prizes. Participants arrive early to party at local bars and stock up on gear from local outfitters before hitting one of four lakes and reservoirs at daybreak to witness not only some of the best sunrises in Colorado but also the heart-warming culture and camaraderie unique to the ice fishing industry. 36th Annual 3 Lakes Ice Fishing Tournament – January 24-26, 2025
Participants in the longest-running ice fishing tournament in the West, hosted by Destination Granby and Sun Outdoors, carefully select their desired spots on one of three mountain lakes to drill a hole and drop a line for a chance to reel in a prize-winning catch. Enter for one, two, or all three days of the contest for the opportunity to win more than $26,000 in cash prizes, plus gift cards, trophies, and other prizes. Don’t miss the kickoff party and awards ceremony events at Sun Outdoors in Granby before and after fishing. All proceeds benefit Destination Granby, a nonprofit organization that supports the local community.

28th Annual Wolford Mountain Reservoir Ice Fishing Contest – February 15, 2025
Hosted by the Kremmling Chamber of Commerce and Town of Kremmling, in partnership with Colorado Parks & Wildlife and the Colorado River District, this single-day tournament offers hourly cash prizes for the biggest fish—including $2,500 for the first tagged fish—plus gift cards and raffle prizes for all in attendance. The event draws families from far and wide to the ice-covered Wolford Reservoir outside the Town of Kremmling. Same-day registration is available as this tournament does not have a participant cap. All participants are automatically entered to win a variety of door prizes, including coupons for fuel and lodging. Tightline Outdoors Ice Addiction Series – February 22, 2025
Held on Grand Lake, Colorado’s largest natural lake located near the western entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park, this single-day contest boasts unbeatable scenery, small-town charm, and $25,000 in cash and prizes. All ages are welcome to join the fun and try to lure a variety of trout, bass, and walleye from under the ice. A registration fee of $60 includes angler’s choice of pre-drilled holes for convenience.
